HVAC Seals

Rail

HVAC systems on rail vehicles help to maintain clean and comfortable temperatures but are custom to noise and vibration.

Noise and vibrations can be annoying to passengers and continuous vibration can result in damage or failure of the HVAC unit, reducing the lifespan, leading to downtime and costly repairs.

CB Frost supplies a range of low smoke, low toxic compliant Rail materials to EN45545-2 that can be used between two surfaces within HVAC systems to reduce noise, prevent water ingress and protect the machinery against vibrations.

MF775 (FR8775) Silicone Rubber

MF775 (FR8775) is a grey 73 shore A low smoke, low toxic silicone rubber specifically designed to manufacture rubber components where fire safe materials are critical in application (Rail). It has excellent resistance to UV and ozone combined with resistance to extremely low and hot temperatures (-55ºC to +200°C) making it suitable for use as a seal on HVAC units.

MF775 is widely used by TFL on the London Underground as approved to fire safety standards EN45545-2, BS6853 Cat 1A and UL94 V-0 / HF-1.

MF775 silicone rubber can be produced in 3 formats, rolls which can then be slit to width (strips) or punched (die-cut) to form a gasket using our overhead presses. Extruded to shape, from simple U channels to more complex sections and finally moulded to suit the light fitting you are trying to seal within or outside of the rail vehicle.

BISCO® HT800 Silicone Foam

HT800 silicone foam is medium cellular foam material with excellent compression set, memory, and low stress relaxation properties and due to its compression set, HT800 commonly reduces the maintenance costs involved with gasket failure and is ideally suited for HVAC systems.

HT800 has excellent resistance to ultraviolet light and ozone, combined with a considerable low and high temperature range it’s a material commonly used to reduce shock, isolate vibration and provide protection against wind driven rain and fire in various outdoor communications, electronics and lighting enclosures whilst also working effectively up to IP66 and IP67.

HT800 Silicone foam is Fire Safe – approved to EN45545-2, BS6853 Cat 1A, UL94 approved to V-0 and HF-1 and is approved by and commonly utilised by TFL on the London Underground.

BISCO® BF1000 Silicone Foam

BF1000 Silicone foam is soft cellular Silicone foam material and is supplied in white as standard. BF1000 Silicone foam is an ideal choice for sealing applications due to its compressibility, lightness and durability. It has excellent memory and low stress relaxation, and the softness of the material means that less force is needed to seal.

Its exponential resistance to UV light and ozone, combined with an excellent low and high temperature range. BF1000 Silicone is commonly used on outdoor applications, such as sealing enclosures effectively up to IP66 and IP67 shielding from heat and the elements, protecting electronics from shock and providing cushioning and vibration for a wide variety of applications.

BF1000 Silicone foam is Fire Safe – approved to EN45545-2, BS6853 and UL94 approved to V-0 and HF-1

BISCO® BF2000 Silicone Foam

BF2000 Silicone foam is an Ultra-soft and highly compressible foam material with excellent memory and low stress relaxation properties. Due to its high compressibility, BF2000 Silicone foam can be compressed into awkward gaps and shapes, making it ideal for transportation, industrial and electronic applications where low closure force and dust sealing on doors are critical.

Further beneficial properties of BF2000 Silicone foam are its excellent resistance to ultraviolet light and ozone, as well as effective resistance to extreme temperatures, both low and high. These characteristics mean that BF2000 is well suited for outdoor applications.

BF2000 Silicone foam sheeting is Fire Safe – approved to EN45545-2, BS6853 Cat 1A and UL94 approved to V-0 and HF-1.

Armaflex® Rail SD & SD-C Foam

With HVAC equipment being the second largest energy consumer, insulating using Rail SD or SD-C products offers enormous energy-saving potential.

Armaflex® Rail SD & SD-C foam is a flexible closed cell EN45545-2 fire compliant thermal insulation material with a built-in vapour barrier to help reduce the risk of corrosion and protects mechanical equipment against heat loss and condensation and supports its long-term function.

Rail SD and SD-C products meet the requirements of the European fire protection standard EN45545-2 and are the first to achieve the hazard levels HL2 and 3 have also been successfully installed to insulate body shell parts and doors and proven themselves as a reliable solution for rattle protection and vibration dampening in various application areas.

Armaflex® Rail foam comes in two grades; either standard SD or SD-C which is the standard SD material but with a silver metallic look coating.
