Quality Without Compromise: What Our Customers Are Saying About CB Frost & Co

At CB Frost & Co, “Quality without compromise” is more than just a catchy tagline—it’s the ethos that has driven our business for over 100 years. A lot has changed since our beginnings in 1921, but our drive to provide the best for our customers has not. Whether we are manufacturing intricate gaskets for the rail or defence industry, or supplying sponge sheeting for construction projects, our primary focus remains the same: ensuring our customers receive the very best service, technical support, and product quality.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we send out an annual Customer Satisfaction Survey. This isn’t just a box-ticking exercise; it’s a vital tool that helps us understand how we are performing, where we excel, and how we can continue to support your business needs.

We were delighted to receive such a high volume of responses this year. The feedback confirms that our dedication to technical excellence and customer care is making a real difference to customer operations.

Reliability When It Matters Most

In the fast-paced industries we serve, we know that lead times and responsiveness are critical. A recurring theme in this year’s survey was our ability to handle urgent requirements without sacrificing professionalism.

One customer noted:

“All my dealings have been met with professionalism and all deliveries, urgent requirements have always been treated with a priority. Excellent, keep up the good work.”

Another added:

“Friendly and quick response to enquiries. Keep up the good work.”

Technical Expertise You Can Trust

We pride ourselves on being more than just a supplier; we aim to be a technical partner. Our sales and technical teams work hard to assist engineers with material selection and complex queries. It was fantastic to see this technical support highlighted in these customer comments:

“We get a very good service, technical understanding etc. Our preferred supplier of gasket materials.”

“CB Frost are a company I have no issues with using or recommending. They have been very helpful when our Engineers have had queries as well.”

Building Long-Term Partnerships

“Great company to deal with over many years – Always helpful and supportive.”

“Have been really helpful.”

Looking Ahead to 2026

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. Your feedback is invaluable. It motivates our team to maintain these high standards and ensures we remain your preferred partner for rubber, sponge, and foam materials, and specialist products.

These individuals have shown exceptional dedication and skill throughout their tenures, and we are confident that their leadership will be instrumental in driving CB Frost & Co forward.

In addition to these new directorships, Mark Jones will transition from his current position as Sales Director to the new role of Commercial Director. Mark’s journey at CB Frost is a testament to his commitment and deep understanding of our business. Having started on the shop floor in 1995, his career has progressed through various roles including order processing, sales engineer, and sales manager before becoming Sales Director in 2011. His wealth of experience across all facets of the company makes him the ideal person for this new strategic position.

Following the appointment of Edward, Daniel and Richard as directors, Mark Jones commented on the integral role they have played in our success over recent years:

“I am immensely proud to see Edward, Daniel, and Richard step into their new directorships. Their dedication and hard work have been instrumental to our company’s success, and these appointments are a testament to their invaluable contributions.

“I am confident that their leadership will be key to our continued growth and innovation for years to come.”

“I am honoured to accept the role of Operations Director and become part of the CB Frost history. The company has a proven record of supporting, developing and promoting from within which echo’s one of our core values ‘people first.’

“Having spent the first part of my career in the FMCG sector, progressing in roles including production, process technology & material resource planning I took a sidestep into uncharted waters of rubber and sponge at CB Frost. I quickly brought into the culture of the company and shared the vision and its core values. We have an established diverse workforce which has helped speed up my progression through the years and I am proud of the people within our team, company ethos, and the products we supply.

CB Frost in 2022: Electric Vehicles and More

As we enter the new year, it provides an ideal opportunity to reflect on the events of the year that just passed. Whilst 2020 and 2021 saw us face certain restrictions as a result of COVID-19 as businesses in all industries continued to face the long term effects of the pandemic, 2022 was a year that saw CB Frost enter new markets such as electric vehicles, along with winning new contacts in existing markets.

Let’s look at some of what we achieved in 2022, along with some of the key topics we covered in our blog posts.

Entering the Electric Vehicles Market

ev battery

With the number of electric (EV) and hybrid (HEV) vehicles on the road rapidly increasing, in 2022 we teamed up with Rogers’ Corporation to supply a range of products for Lithium-ion battery packs for EV and HEV vehicles. With access to Rogers’ range of specialist materials for EV batteries, combined with our expertise in manufacturing, we have been able to develop high performance products for applications including

  • Pressure management pads
  • Battery housing seals
  • Cooling plate spring pads
  • Manual service disconnect seals
  • Thermal runaway protection pads
  • Anti vibration and cushioning pads

With the return of trade shows and expos in a physical capacity, we were excited to showcase Rogers’ Corporation’s range of PORON® polyurethanes and BISCO® silicone materials, along with our range of EV battery components. Two key events we attended included the Battery tech Expo at Silverstone, and the Battery Cell and Systems, and Vehicle Electrification Expos at the NEC, Birmingham.

Attending these events provided our team with the chance to explore the scope of battery technology innovations, along with making new contacts and discussing our own range of materials and EV battery products.

Supporting the Ministry of Defence

CB Frost have long been a supplier to the Ministry of Defence, working alongside well-known names in the defence industry, including Babcock Defence, BAE and General Dynamics. In May 2022, we were pleased to sign a new £60k contract to supply the MoD.

Following more than 12 months of hard work by CB Frost Business Development Manager Daniel Brock and Sales Coordinator Charlotte Homer, we were awarded a long term contract from the MoD to support the British Army. Under our new contract, we supply a range of rubber products for the MoD’s UK armoured vehicle programme. The Boxer is a state-of-the-art armoured vehicle offering the highest levels of protection whilst maintaining fantastic mobility.

Our Material Range and Manufacturing Capabilities

As well as providing news on new developments for CB Frost and the industries that we supply, our blog also provides a platform to highlight our extensive range of high performance materials, designed to meet the requirements and regulations of many industries.

To help our customers in selecting the best suited materials for their applications, we discussed the key advantages of our range of foam rubber products, as well as taking a more detailed look at our high performance silicone materials for the rail industry, and highly versatile PORON® Urethane materials.

As experts in the conversion of rubber, sponge and plastic materials, in addition to providing our expertise in helping customers select the right materials for their needs, we also deliver the highest quality of manufacturing services, converting our impressive range of materials into products to meet the needs of our clients.

During 2022, we made the most of our website’s blog to highlight our manufacturing knowledge and experience, sharing our rubber moulding advice and why to choose injection or compression moulding. We also profiled our extrusion and fabrication capabilities, discussing the processes involved in rubber extrusion and fabrication processes.

Looking Forward to 2023 and Beyond

We believe that a key element contributing to our century plus existence as a company is our forward thinking approach. In addition to learning from the lessons offered by the challenges we have faced each year in the history of CB Frost, we always have our fingers on the pulse of each industry we supply and work tirelessly to not only keep up with industrial advancements, but understand how technologies and processes will continue to advance in the years to come.

A Look Back at 2021 at CB Frost

CB Frost 2021

With the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 has certainly brought many challenges for CB Frost, our suppliers and our customers. However, despite this, it has been another important year for us.

Let’s take a look back at the last 12 months.

Celebrating our 100th Anniversary

100 Years

In March of this year, we celebrated 100 years of CB Frost, looking back at our small beginnings in 1921 and the development of the business alongside the rubber and plastics industry as a whole, through to our relocation and expansion last year and the launch of our new website early this year.

Needless to say, the company has been through many changes over the course of a century, but one thing that has remained constant is our ethos of ‘quality without compromise’. We work constantly to develop our processes and technologies, as well as developing our staff.

Make UK Defence

To increase our network of defence industry clients and increase our manufacturing output of specialist parts for land and naval divisions of the Ministry of Defence, we joined Make UK Defence, the defence division of the Make UK manufacturer’s organisation.

Our membership allows us to benefit from access to defence insights, as well as the chance to attend networking events to build new MoD connections and gain advantages over competitors. With the MoD being the only government department granted a 4 year spending settlement and £16.5b budget increase, our Make UK Defence membership is key to us winning competitive advantage over overseas defence exports.

90 years of Neoprene Rubber

As well as celebrating our own 100 year anniversary, we also took the opportunity to look at the 90 year history of one of our most popular, durable and versatile materials – Neoprene.

Developed by American company DuPont and first introduced to the market in 1931, Neoprene has continued to be a popular choice for design engineers ever since. At CB Frost, we supply Neoprene Rubber and Neoprene Sponge in a range of grades and thicknesses to suit many applications.

Neoprene is highly resistant to weathering, extreme temperatures, compression and chemicals, making it an ideal choice for an extensive range of applications, including insulation for wiring, vibration damping, sealing and pressure gaskets, insulation strip/tape and cord.

New Overhead Press

overhead press

Since moving to new premises in 2020, we have continually worked to expand our production capabilities whilst maintaining the same excellent levels of quality. This summer, we took delivery of a newly refurbished model TH-35 overhead press, which is equipped with a range of user friendly features.

Adding a further cutting press to our manufacturing facilities has allowed us to considerably increase our production levels, whilst also giving us the flexibility to choose between a range of cutting presses for each production run.

Rolling Stock Networking Event, Derby

CB Frost

Despite this being only the second indoor live rail show of the year as a result of restrictions earlier in 2021, it was an extremely successful event and we were kept busy by visitors throughout the day (as well as in the following days as we contacted new leads!).

Following the excellent response to CB Frost’s stand, we wasted no time in booking our exhibitor spot at RSN 2022.

The future for CB Frost

With 2022 just around the corner, we are excited for what the future holds. To learn more about our range of materials, products and services, browse cbfrost-rubber.com or to discuss your requirements, call us today on 0121 773 8494 and our friendly team will be happy to assist you.
